- What is a Great Firewall test?
- A measurement of whether one exact web address can be reached from inside mainland China. Ours compares probes in the country against a control outside it, so a verdict reflects the Great Firewall rather than an ordinary outage at the site itself.
- How does this China firewall test work?
- Four detectors read the raw measurements: connection reset, DNS poisoning, redirection to a server inside mainland China, and failure to load where the control succeeded. The strongest signal decides the verdict, and the evidence behind it is on the URL's own page.
