How much slower is the same page from mainland China?

On fetches that succeeded from both sides, a page arrived in mainland China at 9.9% of the control's speed in 2026. Blocked fetches are excluded — this is the cost of the crossing when nothing was blocked at all.

Measured on a fixed basket of 1200 URLs — tested every year since 2011, hosted outside mainland China, reachable from both sides — so the line follows speed rather than a changing mix of sites. Absolute speeds are page-fetch throughput and also reflect changes in our own probes over 15 years; the share is the comparable figure.
